Call to Worship
Hear God call you to worship through His Word
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his instructions have good insight. His praise endures forever.” (Psalm 111:10)
Collect for Purity
Prepare your heart for worship
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Adoration
Give praise to God
Immortal, invisible, God only wise. Vast in power. Infinite in understanding. To you be the glory forever. Deep is your wisdom and knowledge. You know all things. The exact number of stars in the sky and the exact number of hairs on our heads. Even the secret thoughts and inclinations of our hearts, that no-one else knows about, you do. All our days are written in your book and planned before every single one of them began. Before a word is on our tongues you know what we are going to say. We praise you that you have this wisdom and knowledge, and that you use it to work all things for the good of those who love you.
Amen.
Reading of the Law
Hear the Law of God
“Then God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. Do not covet your neighbour’s house. Do not covet your neighbour’s wife, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.” (Exodus 20:1-2, 17)
Confession of Sins
Confess your sins to God1
Almighty God, by whom all things were created and for whom all things exist: I bow before you in humility. I have more than sufficient reasons to overflow with gratitude and thanksgiving. Yet I confess how easily I default to complaining, whining, and grumbling. I acknowledge and grieve the entitlement and selfishness in my soul. Have mercy on me, O Lord. Free me for joyful gratitude and humble thanksgiving, through Jesus Christ my Saviour.
Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Receive these words of comfort
“But when the kindness of God our Saviour and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us-not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy-through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4-7)
The Creed
Confess what you believe about the Christian faith
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Doxology
Give glory to God
To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, One God, whom we adore; Be glory as it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
Amen.
Prayer of Intercession
Seek God's grace as you make your requests to God
Personal
Thank you, Lord, for the wisdom you generously and ungrudgingly give to all who ask you for it. We pray that we would be those who seek it and put our energy into knowing you more deeply and your ways more clearly. Help us to treasure the truth found in your Word. Give us insight and understanding of what it means so that we make wise choices and walk in a manner which pleases you. With many voices competing for our attention today, enable us to discern what is true wisdom that comes from you, and what is of the world.
Amen.
Church
We praise you our great God and Saviour, that one day your Son Jesus will return to gather His people and bring them safely to the new heavens and new earth. Increase our longing as a local church for that day to come, and for being with the Lord in heaven. While we wait preserve us in the faith and help us to press on in hope. Lift us up when we are struggling to keep going, and remind us that whatever loss we experience in this life will be more than made up for in the life to come. Keep our eyes fixed on Christ who not only is the author of our faith but the finisher too.
Amen.
Elders
For each of our pastors and elders, we pray that you would continue to give them a desire to serve you, Lord Jesus, as one of your under-shepherds, and may the ministry you have called them to, continue to be a delight for them to carry out.
Amen.
Church Members
We pray for [member/s] that they would become more like Jesus everyday as they grow in their love of God and hatred of sin. Increase their humility, wisdom, compassion, and courage. Help them to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s conviction and leading. Give them opportunities to serve your people and open doors to share the gospel. O God, save your people, bless your possession, shepherd them, and carry them forever.
Amen.
Lord's Prayer
Pray the words that Jesus taught us to pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever.
Amen.
Catechism
Receive this instruction from the church
Then where does this corrupt human nature come from?
From the fall and disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve, in Paradise. This fall has so poisoned our nature that we are born sinners-- corrupt from conception on.
Prayer of Illumination
Ask God to give you understanding as you read His Word2
O Lord, you have given us your Word for a light to shine upon our path. Grant us so to meditate on that Word, and to follow its teaching that we may find in it the light that shines more and more until the perfect day. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Receive this blessing from the Lord for the day ahead3
Now may the good Shepherd, continue to be your faithful Shepherd who defends you from all evil, who delivers you from all fear, who protects you from your own folly, who carries you home at last with rejoicing.
